[Performance Introduction] A spirited creative traditional performance play that humorously interprets the Dangun myth. It was prepared as part of the 'National Pungnyu Pride' project promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Traditional Performing Arts Foundation. It reinterprets the Dangun myth, our nation's representative myth, with a modern sensibility to capture the excitement and wit of traditional performance and the stories of people living today on one stage. 「Danggol Pocha」 is set in a special outdoor food stall (pojangmacha) where people tired of the desolation of Seoul life gather with their individual stories as side dishes. By applying familiar characters and stories from the Dangun myth to modern life, it conveys laughter and empathy, humorously depicting the process of comforting each other and gaining the strength to live again despite harsh reality. The stage features diverse traditional performances such as Pungmul, Mask Dance (Talchum), Lion Play (Saja-noreum), and Plate Spinning (Beona-nori). With a dynamic composition combining rhythm, movement, and humorous acting, even audience members unfamiliar with traditional arts can enjoy it without burden, and the unique vitality of traditional performance interacting with the audience can be experienced. The performing group 'The Gwangdae', which presents this performance, is a professional arts organization that has continued creative activities communicating with contemporary audiences based on traditional performance. While preserving the original form and essence of tradition, they have promoted the charm of Korean traditional performance on domestic and international stages through works with modern compositions and sensibilities.
