[Performance Introduction] This performance opens with the vitality of a festival, passes through the passionate colors of Spain, and finally concludes with the emotion of a grand symphony. Brahms' Academic Festival Overture, which opens the performance, is a work composed by weaving together students' songs, announcing the start of the performance by unfolding the pleasant and powerful atmosphere of the festival with powerful orchestration. Bizet's Carmen Suite No. 1 that follows vividly depicts the sentiment of Spain with intense rhythms and colorful hues. The dramatic development, starting from dark and anxious emotions and gradually heightening tension and conflict to reach an intense climax, is secretly connected to Brahms' Symphony No. 1, which will be met in Part 2. Brahms' Symphony No. 1, which takes the stage after the intermission, is the work that marks the finale of this performance. This work, which starts with dark shadows and builds up tension and conflict over a long time to finally reach a climax like brilliant light, completes the journey of humans overcoming agony to reach joy with grand melodies. The dramatic structure foreshadowed in Carmen is realized in its most complete form through Brahms' symphony, and today's performance finally comes to a close.
