[About the Show] An acclaimed topical work from contemporary Quebec theater The sharpest black comedy wearing the face of 'goodwill' <Bienveillance>, a representative work by Fanny Britt who stood at the center of contemporary Quebec theater by winning Canada's most prestigious literary award, the Governor General's Award, is introduced to the Korean stage for the first time as a staged reading performance. 'Bienveillance', a fictional town name in the work and a word meaning 'goodwill' in French. The work stubbornly reflects on the essence of 'good deeds' and the meaning of a 'good person', casting the most uncomfortable questions toward human goodwill through the unique playful yet sharp perspective of black comedy. [Synopsis] Gilles-Jean, a lawyer at a large law firm, returns to his hometown 'Bienveillance' after taking on a case involving his long-time friend's child. However, ghosts of his deceased brothers and father hover around him, and his mother makes him reflect on his conscience and life. This homecoming where past and present intersect forces him to face the truth of human inner nature. <Bienveillance> is an intense black comedy that unpacks human petty cowardice and massive contradictions with surreal imagination and sharp humor.
