Korea and Japan have walked a long history as geographically and culturally close others. From 1945 to the present day, what kind of relationship has the contemporary art of the two countries formed? Examining the contact points and disconnections, commonalities and differences between the two countries may lead us to view each other's art history from new perspectives. To mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan in 1965, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Yokohama Museum of Art in Japan will co-organize an exhibition to examine the history of contemporary art exchanges between Korea and Japan. This exhibition is scheduled to open first at the Yokohama Museum of Art in December 2025, and then be held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in 2026.
