[About the Show] The <Myrthen's Salon> series spotlights composers who led the history of salon concerts and their songs. This concert marks the 7th edition, focusing on Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel's Berlin salon stories. Felix Mendelssohn was hailed as a second Mozart. Records show that his sister Fanny was also considered a genius like her brother since childhood, and Felix relied heavily on Fanny when composing. Yet, Fanny's works were often published without her name, included like shadows inside Felix's music collections. While history remembered only Felix for a long time, recent efforts to highlight female composers and their music now bring her name to concert stages quite often. Today, we recreate Fanny's Berlin salon—the cornerstone of it all—introducing the music that finally took flight under its true creator's name alongside the works of her musical soulmate, Felix.
