About this event

[About the Performance] "Reframe" carries the meaning of looking at a familiar subject from a new perspective and restructuring it. This concert consists of works by two composers who interpreted existing pieces and culture in a new light using their own contemporary perspectives and musical language. Piazzolla divided and depicted the historical flow of tango, which he observed throughout his life, into four scenes. From his perspective, he restructured the process of tango—which started as a popular, secular culture—changing with the times to establish itself as art music. Rosenblatt took the opera "Carmen" and its underlying Gypsy musical elements, viewing them through the lens of jazz and modern music to create a new concert piece.
