Arete Quartet, who has continued their series of complete string quartet performances by deeply exploring works of various composers such as Mendelssohn and Schumann, proves their further evolved, unrivaled skill and delicate interpretation through this stage. Honing the essence of music (Arete) to present the finest performances, this is a new musical milestone they set in the Korean chamber music scene. On this stage, all six string quartets by Béla Bartók, considered the greatest masterpieces in string quartet history since Beethoven, will be performed over two days. Spanning Bartók's entire life, this complete series fully captures the composer's unique folk music colors, intense formal experimentation, and raw, deep inner confessions. In this concert opening the first chapter of the series, String Quartets Nos. 1, 3, and 5, representing Bartók's early, middle, and late periods, gather in one place to highlight his multi-dimensional musical evolution.
