About this event

[Event Introduction] Cellist Won-Hae Lee of Novus Quartet, a world-renowned string quartet writing history in Korean chamber music, and pianist Hyounglok Choi, acclaimed for his unique tone after winning the 7th Sendai International Music Competition, present their second duo stage. In September 2024, the two performers presented a cello repertoire featuring works by Schumann, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, three iconic Romantic composers. On this stage, through the works of Clara Schumann and Brahms, the two performers present the essence of Romanticism through a dialogue between cello and piano. Cellist Won-Hae Lee, as a member of Novus Quartet, demonstrated his chamber music sensibility through the Beethoven string quartet complete cycle, captivating audiences with beautiful tone and technique. After serving as associate principal cellist of the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire for 5 years, he continues active domestic activities, performing on concerto and solo stages as a soloist. Pianist Hyounglok Choi, often called a pianist of healing, possesses delicate and flexible musical colors, demonstrating excellence in interpreting Romantic music. With their musical inspirations meeting, great expectations gather for the works of Clara Schumann and Brahms that they will portray. On October 18, come experience the musical dialogue delivered by Won-Hae Lee and Hyounglok Choi at the Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall. [PROGRAM] C. W. Schumann - 3 Romances, Op.22 (10’) Ⅰ.
