[Introduction] <20th Century Music of America and Europe> TCU Duo Recital Through 20th-century violin-piano repertoires representing America and Europe, this stage demonstrates how the musical language of a century has expanded and changed. Violinist Lee Hye-lim and pianist Michael Bukhman, based on their respective independent international careers and deep musical interpretations, present the most condensed artistic dialogue of chamber music. The program begins with Korngold's Much Ado About Nothing Suite, unfolding a dramatic and cinematic musical world based on Shakespeare's comedy. Following this, Ravel's Violin Sonata No. 2 is a piece combining jazz elements and modern sensibilities, with its unique emotion in the Blues movement and dynamic energy in the final movement leaving a strong impression. Next, starting with Messiaen's Theme and Variations, it begins from a simple theme and expands the layers of time and emotion through colorful variations. Then, Respighi's Violin Sonata captures the rich color and lyricism of late Romanticism, showing an aesthetic balance between classical and modern. A journey where different cultures and musical languages intersect on one stage, focusing on the diversity and depth of 20th-century chamber music. In the musical flow from America to Europe, the two performers will convey the most essential value of communication in chamber music to the audience through delicate interpretations transcending times and styles.
