About this event

[About the Performance] <Thread Repair Shop: A Place Sewing Worn Time> is a band-based music play that takes audience's old memories, forgotten dreams, and unspoken words as 'items for repair' and weaves them into music and scenes. The setting of the play is a fictional repair shop called 'Thread Repair Shop.' It is not a place to fix clothes or objects, but a place to temporarily leave hearts that have become frayed and blurred over time. Here, 'thread' means both the smallest material to mend frayed things and the most bothersome memory continually caught in a corner of the heart. From that sensation of being fragile enough to snap easily yet repeatedly catching on the hand, the performance begins to pull out the small knots remaining in each person's heart. Items accepted at the repair shop are tired bodies, tattered hearts, snagged dreams, torn romance, frayed innocence, long-cherished names, and memories one wishes to touch again. Before the performance, audience members write down the hearts, dreams, words, and memories they want to repair on a 'repair request form' at the <Repair Item Reception Desk>. Accepted stories are transformed during the performance into narratives between songs, live band sounds, scenes, and participatory elements. The audience becomes not mere spectators, but clients who handed over their hearts to the thread repair shop, and the performance unfolds by opening and connecting those stories one by one. Audience members who complete a reception slip receive a care label keychain. Just as a care label inside clothes tells how to care for them for long wear, this keychain serves as a small guide reminding each person how to handle and care for their own heart. Remaining in the client's hand even after the performance ends, this object is a sign that lets them take the heart left at the repair shop back into daily life. <Thread Repair Shop: A Place Sewing Worn Time> expands audience stories into music, text, and participatory scenes, taking that experience into daily life after the show through the small object of a care label. This process of submitting, gazing at, and embracing worn hearts functions as a ritual.
