About this event

[About the Performance] In the spirit of enjoying light and fluffy fried food, we present a staged reading of two contemporary Japanese plays: Suguru Yamamoto's "That Night and Friends (その夜と友達)" and Momoko Takeda's "21:00, Horaikan (二十一時、宝来館)". With "relationships" as the key theme, this performance invites audiences to read, listen to, and encounter plays that capture the feelings and concerns of young people living in the same era. Contemporary Japanese plays, in particular, offer a subtly different texture of language and human connections within a social and cultural environment close to Korea's, creating a sense where familiarity and strangeness coexist. We look forward to sharing time in the open space of the Seoul Fringe Festival, where audiences can relax and experience a mix of readings, stories, and distinct senses. Track A "That Night and Friends (その夜と友達)" explores feelings and language within relationships that ultimately remain incompletely communicated. The performance investigates how different languages and ways of speaking clash and connect within a single space. Track B "21:00, Horaikan (二十一時、宝来館)" presents new forms of third-party relationships beyond friends and family.
