[Event Introduction] <First Korea tour by rising stars of the authentic jazz scene in New York and Indonesia> If you are a jazz fan interested in traditional jazz, or a music lover who enjoys pianist Emmet Cohen's “Emmet’s Place,” you may have seen tenor saxophonist Jacob Chung performing. In the New York jazz scene, where talented young jazz artists gather from all over the world, everyone is looking for fresh, young artists who bring a new "buzz." When Emmet Cohen himself asked around, "Who’s the next young guy?", Jacob Chung was recommended right away. Born in 2000 and turning 26 this year, he is a next-generation star showcasing tremendous potential. Winning "Best Soloist" in DownBeat magazine's Student Music Edition in 2024, he has already captured the attention of jazz fans with his steady and smooth tone even during fast-paced improvisations. Meanwhile, for audiences interested in Indonesia's traditional jazz scene, Kevin Yosua is already a familiar name. Consistently keeping the flame of traditional jazz alive in Bali, Indonesia, he is the founder and curator of Legato Jazz Club and brings new vitality to the Indonesian jazz scene through events like the Legato Jazz Camp and Jazz Marathon. The Kevin Yosua Trio is a jazz ensemble led by bassist Kevin Yosua, joined by Hansen Arif on drums and Rio Manuel on piano. Born in 2000, pianist Rio Manuel—the same age as Jacob—is another rising star symbolizing the potential of Indonesia's traditional jazz scene. His signature light and bouncy piano playing brings a smile and joy to everyone. Known for dynamic interaction and refined interpretations, the Kevin Yosua Trio became the first Asian band to win the New Generation Jazz Lab competition in Switzerland in 2025, earning an opportunity to perform at the Festival da Jazz St. Moritz. This special combination of three young players injecting new energy into Indonesia's traditional jazz scene and New York's acclaimed Jacob Chung will deliver swinging, highly energetic, hot, and spectacular bebop performances to traditional jazz lovers.
