About this event

8 happy days shared with the people, approaching as a citizens' festival. The grandest festival in Joseon history and a journey taken together by the people and a wise ruler! Following the route of King Jeongjo's royal tomb procession in 2026, we reflect on King Jeongjo's mind captured in the 『Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Uigwe』. In 1795, King Jeongjo visited Suwon Hwaseong to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Lady Hyegyeong. King Jeongjo's 8-day journey was not merely a king's movement, but a historical event sharing joyful memories with the people. King Jeongjo's spirit of loving the people was documented in 『Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Uigwe』 and widely disseminated. In 2026, inheriting King Jeongjo's spirit, the happy memories of the people are recreated as happy memories for citizens. The Joint Reenactment of King Jeongjo's Royal Tomb Procession is a collaborative festival between Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Suwon, and Hwaseong that spectacularly recreates the original form of the '1795 Hwaseong Procession' in modern times. - Seoul: Palace departure ceremony, citizen procession, mieum dabwan (tea and refreshments), King Jeongjo history concert, etc. - Suwon: Prime Minister welcoming King Jeongjo, Suwon Hwaseong parade, children's royal procession, etc. - Hwaseong: Modern section procession, traditional section procession, Hwaseong governor welcoming King Jeongjo, gyeokjaeng (appealing to the king), etc.
