About this event

1997년 세계마당극큰잔치로 시작된 과천공연예술축제는 국내 최초의 거리극 축제로 매년 9월 국내외 야외극·거리극을 중심으로 한 수준 높은 공연으로 매년 개최되며, 국내외 예술가들의 실험의 장으로써 해외공연, 국내공연, 기획공연 등 축제기간동안 풍성한 볼거리를 제공하여 일반 시민 누구나 부담없이 다양한 문화를 즐길 수 있는 축제다. 매년 10만명 이상의 관람객이 찾아오는 과천공연예술축제는 아시아를 대표하는 축제로 발전하고 시민과 함께 만들어가는 시민 주도형 예술 축제로, 2023년부터 과천공연예술축제(GPAF)로 축제명을 변경하여 광장 집중형 공연예술축제로서 시민들과 함께한다.
