[Performance Introduction] Kwon Mi-seon gayageum recital <Yueoyea> takes its title from the phrase 'Yueoyea (游於藝)' from the Analects of Confucius. 'Yueoyea' means a life attitude of mastering art deeply to reach a natural and free state, and two pieces are presented under this title. <Ujo Chosudaeyeop> is the first song of Namchang Gagok (male lyrical song) sung in Ujo style. In this performance, it is composed as a duet between gayageum and daegeum. The long breath of the daegeum and the delicate vibrato (nonghyeon) of the gayageum harmonize within a single melody, presenting a possibility of appreciation different from vocal-centered gagok. <Gwanak Yeongsan Hoesang for Gayageum> is a new arrangement of <Gwanak Yeongsan Hoesang>, a wind ensemble piece consisting of piri, daegeum, and haegeum, with the addition of the gayageum. Noting that there are not many pieces for Jeongak gayageum, it is presented in this performance. The gayageum melody was reconstructed considering the variations of the wind instruments and the percussion points of the janggu, attempting a new musical texture where the powerful tone of the wind instruments and the delicate expression of the gayageum blend.
