About this event

This exhibition introduces the works of Bang Hai Ja (1937-2022), who built an independent art world by taking the culture and arts of both Korea and France as her nourishment while traveling between the two countries. As one of the events commemorating the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France in 2026, the exhibition presents Bang Hai Ja's major works by period as a female artist, including works from the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art alongside works located in France that have not been introduced domestically. Examining the artist's life, worldview, and expression methods which took "light" as the source of inspiration throughout her life, visitors can explore various pictorial experiments and insights in this exhibition that comprehensively illuminates and explores its significance.
