About this event

Light makes ordinary landscapes remembered the longest. A familiar place is reborn anew by light, and a passing day remains in our hearts as a single landscape. As time passes, the landscape in memory may become clearer than reality, and sometimes warmer. Ultimately, what we keep for a long time may not be the space itself, but the air and time encountered there, and the light dyeing that moment. Kang Ji-hyun is an artist who captures such traces of light with her own perspective. Her interest lingers not on special events or dramatic scenes, but on ordinary daily life that anyone might have encountered once. Changes of seasons, the time of day, and the warmth of life quietly seep over it, reviving familiar landscapes into new scenes. Natural light and artificial lights harmonize to fill the screen, making us look again at the daily life we carelessly passed by. This exhibition brings together moments of light the artist has watched and recorded for a long time. From blue waves flowing over the sea, alleys and playgrounds where spring flowers bloom, fields where sunlight settles, to city lights where evening seeps—the landscapes in the works are not scenes of special travel destinations, but moments of ordinary daily life we live. However, the landscape passing through the artist's perspective is reborn beyond mere representation as a psychological landscape where light, time, and memory overlap. Nowadays, we consume landscapes too fast. We miss our surroundings while walking toward our destination, and we fail to fully experience the moment while leaving records. Familiarity dulls the senses, and repetitive daily life pushes landscapes into the background. However, Kang Ji-hyun brings that background back in front of our gaze. Rather than showing a new world, she makes us re-encounter a world that was already beside us but we failed to look at. The moment we stand before the artist's work, we slow our pace, let our gaze linger, and slowly discover the beauty contained in an ordinary day. Light is always beside us, but not all light remains as memory. What stays in the heart for a long time is the light of the moment when the heart lingered. Kang Ji-hyun's works calmly pile up such moments on the screen, re-awakening the precious beauty contained in daily life. Through this exhibition, we hope the landscapes in each visitor's memory shine once again. We look forward to a time where you discover your own light in carelessly passing days and familiar landscapes, and long keep the warm warmth contained in ordinary daily life in your heart.
