[Introduction] What will we gather there to wish for? We all gather at the theater to wait for the total solar eclipse that starts in 180 minutes. It has been 375 years since a total solar eclipse was visible in this region, and it might be a rare, once-in-a-lifetime moment. What will we gather there to wish for? What will we become once we see what we yearned for? Will we become something else and scatter? ‹Waiting for the Total Solar Eclipse› dramatizes 'the time spent waiting' rather than the object of waiting itself. You can wait together—whether lying down, sleeping, or looking at your phone. Though divided into audience and creators, perhaps we are all in the same boat. Moving past that dichotomy, we build a single play together. What we saw in the theater today is what we made. Not something we made for you, but something we made together ourselves. In this way, bypassing the theaters that merely consume events, we become a loose, temporary community in the gestures we happen to encounter.
