[Performance Introduction] <Kandinsky and Russian Painters> Inspired by the artistic legacy of Wassily Kandinsky, a pioneer of modern abstract art in Russia, this performance, titled "Kandinsky and Russian Painters," unfolds a highly creative artistic world where music and art intersect. It features a three-generation family ensemble consisting of pianist Irina Kandinsky, violinist Anna Kandinsky, and violinist Hanna Kandinsky, showing an artistic lineage bridging generations. Tchaikovsky's Méditation, a piece conveying deep inner lyricism and quiet contemplation, opens the program. Stravinsky's "Pas-de-deux und Variationen" from Divertimento displays a new sensibility of 20th-century music through dance rhythms and structural tension. Next, Moszkowski's Suite for Two Violins and Piano reveals the charm of Russian chamber music with its rich ensemble colors and lyricism. Shostakovich's Three Pieces for Two Violins and Piano presents a unique musical language where wit, satire, and inner tension intersect. Finally, Glazunov's Grand Adagio wraps up the performance, capturing the essence of Russian Romanticism with its flowing and deep melody. Furthermore, this stage features commentary by art historian Dong-seob Lee, exploring how the artistic worlds of Russian painters, centered around Kandinsky, connect and expand into music.
