[Performance Introduction] Gyeongseong, 1937. An era of assimilation that steals the Korean language, bans even capturing the streets in a single photograph, and ultimately prevents us from keeping our own names. What lies before us is not just the guns and swords of Japanese imperialism. The sweet temptation of living as a 'modern boy' shakes us. Warm coffee instead of a cold gun, a loved one instead of a bomb—the more plausible that touch, the heavier it becomes to keep one's conviction to the end. 〈Modern Boy〉 is an immersive play that invites the audience to that final night. Upon entry, the masked audience becomes 'comrades' who search the studio, deliver letters, and open tightly locked chests. The figures who can no longer trust each other entrust their final trust to the audience. And the audience, as those who watched this night to the very end, will remember them.
