About this event

From cave paintings to smartphones! The greatest relay in human history begins! We created stories and characters to share our thoughts. What Jikji, the world's oldest movable metal type book, conveys to us is not merely the fact that it was the first, but the spirit of wanting to share knowledge. To me, the phrase "world's first" sounds less like the most advanced record and more like a heart that has been passed down for a very long time. Believing that this heart will continue to cross time and space, this work started from imagining a time and a world we have not yet seen. Madangnori (traditional outdoor theater) has long reflected the lives of common people and comforted their hearts. That's why I thought Madangnori might be the format that can most warmly hold the spirit of sharing embedded in Jikji. The process of combining the history of Madangnori built by the theater company Kkokdu Gwangdae with writer Oh Se-hyuk's script was also a process of sharing that spirit conveyed by Jikji once again on stage. I hope the audience receives that heart well.
