About this event

[About the Performance] <First Visit to Korea by Rising Stars of the New York and Indonesian Authentic Jazz Scenes> If you are a jazz fan interested in traditional jazz, or a music lover who enjoys watching pianist Emmet Cohen's "Emmet's Place," you may have seen tenor saxophonist Jacob Chung play. In the New York jazz scene, where exceptionally talented young jazz artists gather from all over the world, everyone is looking for newer, younger artists who bring a fresh "buzz." When Emmet Cohen himself asked around, "who's the next young guy?", Jacob Chung was immediately introduced to him. Born in 2000 and turning 26 this year, he is a next-generation star performer demonstrating top-tier potential. Winning "Best Soloist" in DownBeat magazine's Student Music edition in 2024, he has already captured the attention of jazz fans with his stable and smooth tone even during fast, unstoppable solos. Meanwhile, for audiences interested in Indonesia's authentic jazz scene, Kevin Yosua is already a familiar name. Continuously keeping the torch of traditional jazz burning in Bali, Indonesia, he is the founder and curator of Legato Jazz Club and brings new energy to the Indonesian jazz scene through initiatives like the Legato Jazz Camp and Jazz Marathon. The Kevin Yosua Trio is a jazz ensemble led by bassist Kevin Yosua, featuring Hansen Arif on drums and Rio Manuel on piano. Born in 2000 like Jacob, pianist Rio Manuel is also a rising star symbolizing the potential of Indonesia's traditional jazz scene; his light and bouncy piano playing brings a smile and joy to anyone's face. Known for dynamic interactions and sophisticated interpretations, the Kevin Yosua Trio became the first Asian band to win the New Generation Jazz Lab competition in Switzerland in 2025 and performed at the Festival da Jazz St. Moritz. This special combination of three young players injecting fresh energy into Indonesia's traditional jazz scene and New York's spotlighted Jacob Chung will offer authentic jazz fans a truly swing-filled performance and a hot, brilliant bebop show packed with youthful energy. Key Highlights! Point 1. Dynamic performance by rising star saxophonist Jacob Chung, acclaimed in the New York jazz scene Point 2. First visit to Korea by the most prominent trio carrying on the tradition of Indonesia's authentic jazz scene Point 3.
