Free · Permanent · Jongno-gu Namsan Beacon Mound and Bosingak Belfry
Hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, traditional cultural events like the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony re-enact the Joseon Dynasty's telecommunication system to showcase indigenous Korean traditions to citizens and tourists. During the Joseon Dynasty, the Namsan Beacon Fire Station served as the crucial terminal hub gathering beacon signals from across the nation to communicate urgent situations to the capital. Visitors can watch the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony at the station while listening to historical commentary. Additionally, the daily Bosingak Citizen Bell Ringing Ceremony at noon offers an interactive experience open to citizens and tourists. At the Octagonal Pavilion Plaza on Namsan Tower, visitors can enjoy Samulnori (traditional percussion group) performances and traditional martial arts demonstrations. Other hands-on activities include single-day timekeeper (gyeongjeomgwan) and beacon keeper experiences. - Main Program: Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony - Side Events & Programs: Bosingak Citizen Bell Ringing Ceremony / Traditional Cultural Performances / One-day Beacon Keeper Experience, etc.
