About this event

[Synopsis] The protagonist, Mr. Yoo, comes from a family that performed shrouding and body preparation for generations. Although occupations may have high or low status, he carried it on as a family business and did not want to pass it down to his children. He shares stories about his life with audience members who visit his workplace, offering thoughts on living and stories about the world. Sad, heartbreaking, and regrettable stories we cannot forget—such as the Seongsu Bridge collapse, Goliath tower sit-in, and cruise ship sinking. At times, joyful memories are shared. Death is something everyone is born to face without exception, and through various stories, he illustrates diverse lives. Meanwhile, another undertaker operates in a thoroughly capitalist way. Following changing times, he acts as chief mourner on behalf of families, and even provides proxy wedding/funeral guests. Which way is right is for the audience to judge. Mr. Yoo, who did not want to pass down the family business to his child, sent his son away to find another career despite his son's wish. Time passes without knowing if he lives well, and the son does not return; this body preparation performed with the audience is Mr. Yoo's last. Putting all his heart into every single thread, Mr. Yoo, having finished preparations for farewell, struggles with overwhelming sorrow. What makes it so difficult for him? One saying from Mr. Yoo, who has taken care of countless deceased souls: ''Everyone dies once. But if you are buried only in the ground and fail to be buried in the hearts of those left alive, that is true death....''
