The 39th Donghae Mureung Festival is a representative traditional cultural festival of Donghae City, held for 4 days from September 17 to 20, 2026, around the Donghae Well-being Leports Town and Donghae Culture and Arts Center. The theme of this year's festival is "Unified Citizens, Newly Jumping Donghae City," aiming to expand citizen participation, revitalize the local economy, and create a cultural tourism festival where tradition and modernity harmonize. The festival consists of ritual events, performance events, folk culture and arts events, experience and promotion events, and planning events. Main programs include the Mountain Spirit Rite and Harvest Rite, along with an opening celebratory performance, Generation Empathy Concert, Donghae Song Festival, Donghae Youth Dance Festival, and performances by local professional artists and the city choir. Additionally, various spectacles bridging generations and traditions will be showcased through performances by the Navy Band and Guard of Honor, special forces martial arts demonstrations by the 1st Mountain Brigade, and folk performances such as Mangsang Nongak and Bukpyeong Wonnim Dapgyo Nori. Experience programs include various experience and promotion halls for traditional folk games, workshop experiences, and health check-ups, as well as a children's experience hall providing programs for families to enjoy together, such as traditional games, maritime safety, and sports. A new 'A Bite of Donghae Taste' program where visitors can taste and vote for representative menus of local restaurants will be operated, along with the Donghae Sale Festa to revitalize local commercial districts. In addition, local food markets and a traditional market (Pungmul market) will be operated at the venue, and a Cheongsachorong (traditional lanterns) light tunnel will be created to enhance the traditional festival atmosphere and nighttime attractions. The 39th Donghae Mureung Festival will be held as Donghae City's representative cultural tourism festival where citizens and tourists can experience local traditional culture, food, and art in one place. 1.
