About this event

[ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE] <Historia de Adrian> is a one-man monologue play addressing issues of migration, return, identity, and belonging, based on the life of Bang Tae-hyun, who was born in South Korea and migrated to Argentina at the age of ten. The work alternates between two names, Bang Tae-hyun and Adrian Bang, unfolding on stage the experience of an individual who has lived in different cultures and societies of Korea and Argentina. Born a Korean but raised in Argentina, he lives on the boundary without fully belonging anywhere. The audience follows his journey and confronts the questions, 'Who am I?' and 'Where can I belong?' Part 1 is conducted in Korean, capturing the language barriers, discrimination, family, friendship, and times of growth experienced by ten-year-old boy Bang Tae-hyun as he settles in Argentina. Part 2 is conducted in Spanish, talking about the process of Adrian Bang living with a dream of becoming an actor after returning to Korea, and another boundary and alienation he faces in that process. This work was created based on the oral statements and narratives of Bang Tae-hyun's actual experience, and reconstructed into a performance through the director's adaptation process. <Historia de Adrian> is the story of an immigrant, and at the same time, a story of belonging, deprivation, frustration, and nostalgia that anyone experiences at least once in their life. It is a work capturing the "gap" existing between the green garden and the gray city, between Korean and Spanish, between South Korea and Argentina, between Bang Tae-hyun and Adrian Bang, and the sense of existence floating between this gap.
