Starting in 1955 with the 1st Baekje Grand Festival in Buyeo-gun, the Baekje Cultural Festival marks its 72nd anniversary this year as Korea's representative historical and cultural festival. It is a festival that promotes the brilliant culture and long history of Baekje while modernly inheriting and developing the spirit and cultural heritage of our ancestors, enhancing regional identity and pride. The 72nd Baekje Cultural Festival will be held for 9 days from October 3 (Sat) to October 11 (Sun), 2026, around downtown Buyeo under the theme 'Beautiful Baekje, Shining Sabi'. Centering around Jeonglimsaji Temple Site, Seoktap-ro, and Guanbuk-ri Relics, it presents over 40 programs across 7 fields including rituals, historical processions, performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities, and night landscapes. In particular, this year's festival is held throughout downtown Buyeo to operate as an open festival where Baekje's history and culture blend with local commercial districts and residents' daily lives, providing visitors with a special cultural experience where past and present coexist. 1. Signature Programs - Opening & Closing Ceremonies: Official Opening/Closing, Celebration Performances - Sabi Capital Transfer Proclamation: Proclamation of the necessity of transferring the capital to Sabi, large-scale capital transfer procession, Jeongdo Goyuje (ritual), celebration performance - Theme Performance: Beautiful Baekje, Shining Sabi (72nd Baekje Cultural Festival Theme Performance) - Theme Exhibition Hall (Baekje People's Promise): A journey to Baekje through the door of time 2. Main Programs - Baekje Historical & Cultural Procession - Baekje Culture Night Parade: Downtown night procession performance - Sabi Children's Kingdom: Children's playground and experiential programs themed on Baekje history - Baekje Night Crafted with Light: Media art set against the backdrop of Jeonglimsaji Temple Site 3. Rituals - Gocheonje (Ritual to Heaven) - 11 Ritual Ceremonies: Baekje Sacred Flame Lighting (Gocheonje) and 10 types of rituals/Buddhist ceremonies 4. Performance Programs - Cultural Arts Performances - Sabi Baekje Talk Concert and 8 other programs 5. Hands-on Programs - Welcome to Baekje - Sabi Roblox - Around Sabi and 9 other programs 6. Landscape Programs - Night of Sabi - King's Garden - Baekje Night Crafted with Light, etc. 7. Associated Programs - Sabi Junior Welcome Brigade - Connecting Buyeo tourism resources with the venue, etc.
