About this event

The 2026 Chungju Heritage Night Tour is an event held for 3 days from September 4 to September 6, 2026, around Gwana Park in Chungju (21 Gwana 1-gil, Chungju-si). It is designed to convey the historical value of Chungju and vitalize the economy of the original city center by reinterpreting the past status of Jungwongyeong and the symbolism of Chungcheong Gamyeong (provincial administrative headquarters) during the Joseon Dynasty in connection with cultural heritage such as Cheongnyeongheon and Jegeumdang in Gwana Park. The festival consists of a variety of night-themed programs across eight categories: Night View (Yagyeong), Night Trail (Yaro), Night History (Yasa), Night Art (Yahwa), Night Performance (Yaseol), Night Food (Yasik), Night Stay (Yasuk), and Night Market (Yasi). Amidst the night view of Gwana Park illuminated by evening lights, historical street tours and various cultural heritage hands-on activities take place. Outdoor plays and traditional performances utilizing meetings with artisans, historical figures, and folktales operate throughout the event site. Furthermore, a food zone recreating old traditional markets, a flea market featuring local craft artists, and programs linked with accommodation facilities and commercial districts within the jurisdiction come together to offer visitors the elegance of Jungwon culture and the unique pleasure of night tourism. 1.
