Originally launched in 1997 as the World Street Theater Festival, the Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival is Korea's first street theater festival. Held every September, it features high-quality outdoor and street theater performances from home and abroad. Serving as an experimental platform for artists worldwide, it offers abundant entertainment including international, domestic, and special performances so citizens can enjoy diverse cultural experiences without burden. Attracting over 100,000 visitors every year, it has grown into an Asian flagship event and citizen-led arts festival. Rebranded in 2023 as the Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival (GPAF), it joins citizens as a plaza-focused performing arts festival. 1. Main Programs: Opening program, closing program, parade, official entry performances, invited domestic performances, overseas performances, etc. 2.
