Gwanak Ganggamchan Festival is Seoul's representative historical and cultural festival held in Gwanak, a city imbued with history, to honor the patriotic spirit and achievements of General Ganggamchan, hero of the Battle of Kuju. It is a representative historical cultural festival of Seoul held to commemorate the patriotism of Goryeo's famous General Ganggamchan, and a flagship festival of Gwanak created and enjoyed together by Gwanak residents. The festival started anew in 2016 by integrating 'Gwanaksan Azalea Festival', Gwanak-gu's representative traditional cultural festival since 1998, and 'Nakseongdae Inheonje', a memorial service held since 1988. Set against cultural heritage sites imbued with the general's spirit—such as Nakseongdae, where General Ganggamchan was born where the fourth star of the Big Dipper fell; Inheon-dong, named after the general's posthumous title; and Seowon-dong, featuring a pavilion the general frequently visited when traveling to and from Songdo—the festival carries on his legacy through various modern programs. Moving into its 3rd week of October, 'Tomorrow Ganggamchan' begins. Marking its 10th anniversary in 2026, the Gwanak Ganggamchan Festival expands its content as Seoul's representative Goryeo historical and cultural festival embracing K-culture, taking a leap forward as a sustainable co-existence festival connecting generations and revitalizing the region. Main Programs - Resident participation programs such as '21 Around Our Neighborhood', 'Citizen Pungryuje', and 'Ganggamchan Talk Show' with instructor Seol Min-seok - Cultural arts programs such as theme performance 'Nakseong Yeonhui' and 'Byeolbyeol Stage' - Local economic revitalization programs such as 'Goryeo Market' and 'Byeokrando 21' - Education-linked programs such as 'Little Ganggamchan', 'Byeolbyeol Playground', and 'Nakseongdae Night Gathering'
