[Event Introduction] Joshua Redman!, Returns as a Quartet for the First Time in 12 Years A Special Night Where Legend Meets the Future The Joshua Redman Quartet, led by world-renowned saxophonist Joshua Redman, will meet Korean fans on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 7:30 PM at the Yonsei University Centennial Hall Concert Hall. While Joshua Redman has visited Korea multiple times with various projects and lineups, this marks his first visit in 12 years with the authentic quartet formation most beloved by domestic jazz fans. This comes as welcome news to fans who have long awaited his quartet sound. Emerging like a comet in the jazz scene in the early 1990s, Joshua Redman ushered in a new era of modern jazz alongside top contemporary musicians such as Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade. Since then, he built his own musical world through collaborations with masters like Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, and McCoy Tyner, and is evaluated today as one of the most influential jazz artists alive. This performance in Korea is special because it goes beyond simply being a master's return. Just as Joshua Redman grew in his youth through performing with great senior musicians, he is now shaping the future of jazz alongside next-generation musicians he personally discovered and guides. Joining him for this performance are pianist Paul Cornish, bassist Russell Hall, and drummer Nazir Ebo—members who participated in his recent acclaimed Blue Note release, 《Words Fall Short》. As the most spotlighted next-generation players in the New York jazz scene today, they present intimate interplay transcending generations and experience alongside Joshua Redman, suggesting a new direction for modern jazz. Jazz has always evolved while inheriting tradition across generations. The history of jazz passed down from Duke Ellington to John Coltrane, and from Sonny Rollins to Joshua Redman, is also a history of creative legacy forged by seniors and juniors breathing together on the same stage. This concert offers a rare opportunity to witness that living tradition in person. Audiences can experience the essence of modern jazz combining Joshua Redman's signature deep lyricism and explosive improvisation with fresh energy created by young performers. In particular, the quartet's synergy, tightened through major stages worldwide including Tokyo Blue Note, is expected to deliver a peak moment during this Seoul performance.
