Korea Youth Day originated as a youth commemoration event proposed and led by Youth & Future, a non-profit organization. Starting in 2016, Youth & Future held annual Youth Day events every September to build social consensus and raise public awareness on advancing youth rights, officially naming it the [Korea Youth Day Festival] in 2017 to develop it into Korea's signature youth event. Subsequently, on January 9, 2020, the 'Framework Act on Youth' establishing Youth Day as a statutory holiday passed the National Assembly, designating the third Saturday of September as official Youth Day. The festival aims to publicize the meaning of statutory Youth Day, expand youth societal participation, protect rights, and vitalize youth culture. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the 10th Korea Youth Day Festival takes place at Gwangalli, Busan—a top national tourist destination. Covering various fields including youth policy promotion, culture/arts, employment/entrepreneurship, performances, hands-on activities, and content industries, the festival offers rich programming such as a K-POP Concert, University Song Festival, Korea Youth Dream Gala Concert, Youth Film Awards, Korea Cheerleading Championship, and Creator Awards for youth and citizens to communicate and participate together. 1.
