The Sacheon Samcheonpo Port Wild Gizzard Shad Festival is a food festival centered around gizzard shad, a signature seafood product of Samcheonpo Port in Sacheon. Thanks to continuous love and attention from citizens and visiting tourists, it has grown into a nationwide culinary festival, now celebrating its 23rd edition. Under the title of the 23rd Sacheon Samcheonpo Port Wild Gizzard Shad Festival in 2026, the event coincides with the peak gizzard shad fishing season to promote the renowned taste of Sacheon gizzard shad across the country. It also aims to boost income for local fishers and those in seafood-related industries while showcasing the clean waters and seafood of Sacheon. 1. Main Program: Eve celebration performances, opening ceremony, fireworks, commemorative performances 2. Side Programs: Gizzard shad dish sales, invited performance of Mado Galbang-a Sori (Gyeongsangnam-do Intangible Cultural Heritage), Pungmul traditional market and Pumba street performances 3. Visitor Participation Programs: Bare-handed gizzard shad catching experience, free gizzard shad tasting, 'I Am a Singer Too' live street karaoke, etc.
