[Performance Introduction] <Historia de Adrián> is a solo monologue play dealing with the issues of immigration, return, identity, and belonging, based on the life of Bang Tae-hyun, who was born in South Korea and immigrated to Argentina at the age of ten. The work moves back and forth between two names, Bang Tae-hyun and Adrián Bang, unfolding on stage the experience of an individual who has lived in different cultures and societies, South Korea and Argentina. Born as a Korean but raised in Argentina, he lives on the border without fully belonging anywhere. Following his journey, the audience faces the questions, "Who am I?" and "Where do I belong?" Part 1 is conducted in Korean and captures the barriers of language, discrimination, family, friendship, and the time of growing up that ten-year-old boy Bang Tae-hyun experiences while settling in Argentina. Part 2 is conducted in Spanish and talks about Adrián Bang's process of dreaming of becoming an actor after returning to South Korea, and another boundary and alienation he faces in that process. This work was created based on oral accounts and descriptions of Bang Tae-hyun's actual experience, and was reconstructed into a performance through the director's adaptation process. <Historia de Adrián> is the story of an immigrant and at the same time a story about the sense of belonging, deprivation, frustration, and nostalgia that everyone experiences at least once in their lives. It is a work that captures the "gap" existing between the green garden and the gray city, between the Korean and Spanish languages, between South Korea and Argentina, and between Bang Tae-hyun and Adrián Bang, and the sense of existence floating in this gap.
